Brandenburg / Havel, Germany, April 30, 2010
– The FUSION Team, consisting of seven parties including RapidEye AG with the Technical University of Berlin (TU) heading the project, has announced that their FUSION User Workshop will take place on May 19th in Berlin.
Funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the Space Agency of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the FUSION team is currently assessing a concept of a future satellite constellation which will combine the same radiometric and geometric capabilities of the RapidEye satellite constellation with the infrared sensor system based on the Bispectral InfraRed Detection (BIRD) micro-satellite. This fusion of optical and infrared data will allow the supply of new types of Earth observation products.
The FUSION User Workshop hosted by the Technical University in Berlin, will offer a unique opportunity for participants to learn about FUSION, express their needs, discuss their requirements and influence the mission design from the beginning. A full day of sessions are planned, including two parallel sessions with normal temperature applications and high temperature applications.
In addition, the FUSION team has compiled a survey and is kindly requesting all Earth observation data users to complete the survey, regardless of their participation in the workshop. This input will assist in determining the system requirements of the future FUSION constellation. To take part in the survey, please
